Wreckers to Checkers for Jon Moore at Whip City Speedway
First Win For Hurd, Spencer and Seymour Score Sequels,
Peterson, Pease and Montesi Take Down Wins

By Mark McKeon

Last week, Jon Moore flipped his own 1200cc Mini Sprint violently on the backstretch at Whip City Speedway after tangling with another car. This week, in a race that was slowed by a single caution flag, he rim rode the high line to victory lane in a car owned by Clayton McCartney and sponsored by Eaton, the world wide industrial products company.

“Early in the night, I though it might be wreckers again,” Moore said. . The car was overheating in hot laps and again in the heat race, so we bought a new radiator from Dave Haskell and put it in before the feature and that did the trick. I had to run the high side to get around quick, but I was a little skeptical because I knew Marc Guerard was behind me and I knew he’d like nothing better than to get underneath me and pull a slide job to get by. The car was fast enough that he just never had a chance to.”

Guerard ended up in second place, while Rich Wood was third and Jamie Beaudry was fourth.

Flyin' Brian Hurd picked up his first 270cc Mini Sprint win of the year on a night in which he could do no wrong: he led the feature from start to finish and he also won his heat.

Kyle Spencer “The Montgomery Missile” took home his second 750cc Mini Sprint win of the year by snatching the lead from Mike Parolo with 3 laps to go. The win capped off a busy week for the likable teenager who also competed in his family own SK Light at Stafford Motor Speedway on Friday and served as a crewman on Danny Sammons Tour Modified at Seekonk on Wednesday.

In a drama laden finish, Matt Seymour picked up his second 600cc feature win when the first and second place cars tangled on lap 18 of the 20 lap feature. Seymour only led for two laps, but one of those was the one that matters.

Make it win number 3 for Brian Peterson in the Modified Lite feature, as he and Ryan Nicewicz continue their neck and neck duel in the point standings. Nicewicz finished second, in a race which saw the lead change hands 4 times.

Things were oh so normal in the Quad 4 Midget ranks. The car count was back up to its normal level and Tony Montesi was back at his normal location on victory lane. Montesi wrestled the lead from Eli Deshaies and went on to score the gazilionth victory of his career, which includes wins in both Mini Sprints and Midgets.
