Usually the instruments have already been tested before we even get them. Much like a hammer is proven to work with nails before you buy it. One thing we do have to test though is durability...Some places that have weather instruments are often isolated and obviously exposed to the elements. Sometimes they're tested on places like Mount Washington, or other places that are always known to have bad weather....so if they work there...they'd work here.
