SIERRA VISTA, AZ (CBS5) -

The parents of a 2-year-old Arizona boy have been arrested after the toddler was found malnourished and weighing just 17 pounds, authorities said.

The Cochise County Sheriff's Office said they were called to the 200 block of Third Street in Sierra Vista about 9:30 a.m. Monday and found the child "pale and extremely thin."

He was taken to University Medical Center for evaluation and medical staff said he was severely malnourished.

A search warrant was issued at the home Wednesday morning and both parents were arrested and charged with Domestic Violence/Child Abuse.

The Department of Child Services took custody of two other children who lived at the home, a 9-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy.

A sixth person living in the home was taken to a medical center for significant medical issues. Details were not released.

Megan Gerhart, 23, and Robert Hollenbough, 33, were booked into the Cochise County jail and are being held for their initial court appearance.

Cochise County Sheriff's Office said the case remains under investigation.
