Fort Bragg soldier found dead on post, investigation underway

FORT BRAGG, N.C. -

Fort Bragg officials are investigating the death of Pvt. 1st Class Darrell Robinson after he was found dead on post on Aug. 31.

Fort Bragg officials said Robinson's cause of death is unknown at this time and the incident is under investigation.

The 23-year-old from San Angelo, Texas, was a military policeman in the 550th Military Working Dog, 42nd Military Police Detachment, 503rd Military Police Battalion, 16th Military Police Brigade.

"We are deeply saddened by this sudden and unexpected loss of our Soldier," Lt. Col. Caroline K.M. Horton said in a written release.

Horton was Robinson's battalion commander.

"We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of Pvt. 1st Class Robinson,” Horton said.

Robinson joined the Army in May 2013.
