Technical Discussion: Changes are coming, more heat, more humid - CBS 3 Springfield - WSHM

HARTFORD, CT. (AP) -

Hope you got to spend some time outside today! (my family is at the Goshen Fair as I type this ļ.. ) Despite cloudiness from time to time today, we enjoyed great late-summer weather. Some sunshine, warm, yet comfortable temperatures (75-80 for most of us) and lower levels of humidity. I wish I could say that the rest of the holiday weekend will be just as nice, but, unfortunately we have some big changes coming. Like the humidity? Like summertime heat? Well then, you're in luck, as both are big weather stories over the next few days.

You'll notice the humidity increasing overnight tonight, and especially tomorrow. While the passed 2 nights have featured great sleeping weather, with the windows opened, you will likely have to start cranking the AC for the next few nights. Southerly winds will pump up higher heat and dew points ahead of a slow moving cold front. So your Sunday forecast will feature clouds and some sunshine, with the chance for showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Not every town will get hit with rain tomorrow, but the towns that do will likely get a pretty good soaking, thanks to the more tropical air mass taking over. Highs tomorrow will be in the 80-85 range, with dew point temperatures getting close to that oppressive 70 degree range.

Monday will likely be a similar day; a mix of clouds and sun, with some scattered showers and storms. It will stay very warm and humid, with highs reaching the upper 80's in many inland towns. Again, no need to cancel your picnics or BBQ's, but just know that you may have to head inside for a period of time while a shower or storm rolls through.

The first week of September will be unseasonably warm, so don't pack away your summer wardrobe. We can expect highs in the 80s every day next week and we might even peak near 90 degrees at some point. Though it stays hot through next Saturday, the humidity will drop off a bit mid-week, so it should feel a little more comfortable outside.

Have a happy and safe Labor Day Weekend!
