A disabled veteran whose SUV was stolen from his home in Cross last week, has a new set of wheels thanks to a West Ashley car dealership.
The stolen car was Larry Gatie's only way to get around.
Sears Sauls, general manager-vice president of Rick Hendrick Hyundai, saw the Live 5 News story about Gatie and stepped up to the plate.
"I'm thinking, who's gonna help this guy and I said we're in a position because I've got some good cars that still have a lot of life in them, and I thought maybe this will help him out," Sauls said.
Friday afternoon, Sauls, on behalf of the dealership presented Gatie with an SUV free of charge.
Gatie was speechless, but then thanked Hendrick Hyundai and Live 5 News for helping him out.
"It shows me and everybody else ho great this country is. Thank you everybody," said Gatie.
So far, Berkeley County deputies have not been able to find the stolen car.
