Coyle, Booth, Pirri, Blum and Brown Will Compete With STX Equipment

Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) August 28, 2014

Baltimore-based STX, LLC, a global sporting goods leader, today announced the signing of National Hockey League (NHL) athletes Charlie Coyle (Minnesota Wild), David Booth (Toronto Maple Leafs), Brandon Pirri (Florida Panthers), Jonathon Blum (Minnesota Wild) and Mike Brown (San Jose Sharks). All five players have signed multi-year deals and will join Matt Moulson (Buffalo Sabres) to represent STX in the NHL.

The addition of all five athletes will help drive brand awareness as STX prepares to expand its new ice hockey line to include gloves, elite-level protective gear and beginner and intermediate-level Surgeon and Stallion sticks. Additionally, each will be involved with product development, on-ice feedback, as well as appearances at STX-sponsored events.

The early success of STXs ice hockey line is greatly due to our research-driven approach, said Ed Saunders, Director of Marketing at STX. We have unparalleled access to players of all levels through STX events and work closely with our NHL athletes to develop elite gear. This positions STX well to launch our new protective gear and stick lines.

Bios for NHL Athletes:

  •     Charlie Coyle Forward. Coyle, who plays for the Minnesota Wild, was drafted in the first round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the San Jose Sharks. Previously, Coyle competed with the Saint John Sea Dogs in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
  •     David Booth Left Wing. Booth was drafted by the Florida Panthers in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft and joined the Panthers for the 2006-2007 season. In 2008-09, he was voted the Most Valuable Player by Panthers fans. Representing the United States, Booth also competed in the 2008 International Ice Hockey Federation World Championship. He is currently a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
  •     Brandon Pirri Center. Traded to the Florida Panthers in 2014, Pirri was drafted 59th overall in the 2009 by the Chicago Blackhawks, where he played primarily for their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate Rockford IceHogs. During his AHL career, Pirri was named MVP of the 2014 AHL All-Star Game Classic and was the leagues leading scorer for the 2012-13 campaign, tallying 22 goals and 53 assists.
  •     Jonathon Blum Defenseman. Blum recently signed a two-way contract with the Minnesota Wild after playing for the Nashville Predators and their AHL affiliate for four seasons. Prior to competing in the NHL, Blum represented Team USA at the 2008 and 2009 World Junior Championships.
  •     Mike Brown Right Wing. The Vancouver Canucks drafted Brown in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He has since played for the Canucks, Anaheim Ducks, Toronto Maple Leafs and the Edmonton Oilers and now plays for the San Jose Sharks. Brown competed with the U.S. National Team Development Programs Under-18 Team before beginning his NHL career.

These talented players are a great fit for STX as we continue to expand our ice hockey line, said Matt Hoppe, Senior Global Brand Manager at STX. As more professional players support and use STX products, it provides an opportunity for feedback and input from the most elite players in the game. This enables us to produce the highest quality product available on the market.
