Woman in ICU after being hit by car in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

A woman suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car late Wednesday night in Fayetteville.

Fayetteville police responded to a report of a crash involving a pedestrian on Owen Drive near Village Drive at approximately 11:52 p.m., according to authorities.

Julinda Marie Ferricks, 35, was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where she is receiving treatment in the intensive care unit.

Police said that the preliminary investigation shows that Ferricks was attempting to cross Owen Drive outside of the crosswalk and was struck by a vehicle driven by Meldrick Harrington, of Fayetteville.

No charges have been filed at this time.
