The Student Prince Cafe and Fort Dining Room restaurant in downtown Springfield is set to reopen in October.
The Springfield landmark will reopen on Oct. 1 under new owner Peter Picknelly, chairman and CEO of Peter Pan Bus Lines, according to our media partners at MassLive and The Republican.
The former owners were expecting to close the business for good in July before Picknelly stepped in to buy the restaurant.
It had originally been scheduled to reopen in September, but has been pushed back several times. Picknelly has said some of the delays are due to summer vacations and people being out of their offices.
The 79-year-old German restaurant will be fundamentally the same place with the same look and the same menu.
When the announcement was made earlier this summer that the restaurant would be temporarily closing, there were lines out the door for the following week.
