TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Former Toledo Mayor Carty Finkbeiner, who vacated his office back in 2010, has some suggestions for the City of Toledo on their response to the water crisis.

Finkbeiner commended current administration for how they handled the situation, saying they were in a tough position.

Finkbeiner also said he would want water testing data for the past 90 days to look at the trends in weekly results, emphasizing on fixing the problem now while all eyes are on Toledo.

"I think there is a way to turn the lemon into lemonade," said Finkbeiner. "We need to now have the most thorough exhaustive scientific examination of just how exactly you can attack the algae blooms not just for a day, week, or month."

Finkbeiner also says he feels the city or Ohio's EPA needs a zero tolerance level of agricultural and industrial contamination and run off of fertilizer, chemicals and city sewers.
