GAINESVILLE, FL (WFLA) -

A Gainesville man apparently got a dose of road rage karma when police say he was run over by his own pickup truck after getting out to bang on another driver's window on Tuesday evening.

The Gainesville Sun (http://bit.ly/1rDishr) reports 48-year-old Joseph Carl had been drinking and drove into a vehicle stopped at a red light. He got out of his truck without putting it in park and began banging on the window of a woman's car. When the frightened woman drove away, there was nothing holding his truck in place.

The truck began to roll and Carl stood in front of the vehicle and put his arms out in front of it to try and stop it, but the truck ran over him, according to the Sun report.

Police said Carl failed sobriety tests. He told officers that he did not drink and drive. But, when officers asked him about the beer cans in his truck, he told them he only drank when he drove home, the Sun reported.

Carl was taken to the hospital where he was treated for a broken foot and hand. The Sun reported he was found to have a blood alcohol level of .22, which is almost three times the legal limit in Florida.

Carl is charged with DUI and DUI property damage.
