FORT BRAGG, N.C. -

Fort Bragg said Senior Airman Timothy J. Wright was killed July 17 during a training exercise on post.

The 30-year-old airman was fatally injured by a Humvee during the exercise. Unit members attempted life-saving measures until medical personnel arrived, authorities said.

Wright was transported to Womack Army Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.

“Team Pope and the Gryphons of the 43rd Airlift Group are united in support of Senior Airman Wright’s family and friends,” said Col. Daniel Tulley, 43rd Airlift Group commander. “We stand together during this time of mourning. We cherish our memories of him and will continue to honor his service to our nation and the United States Air Force.”

The Pensacola native was assigned to Pope’s 43rd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron as an aeromedical evacuation technician. He had been at Pope since May 2014.
