Police arrested three people who were allegedly caught snorting cocaine in a car parked in a Miles Street parking lot late Thursday night.
An officer on foot patrol in the Main Street area came across a car with the interior light on. The officer witnessed all three people snorting what appeared to be an illegal substance, so he called for backup, according to Greenfield police.
When the occupants were told to exit the car, one officer noticed a brown piece of cardboard that had two "lines" of a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine, police said.
Police noticed one passenger, later identified as Leah Anne Wingler, 21, of Turners Falls, attempt to hide a rolled up $100 bill under her thigh when they were speaking with the suspects.
When the officers spoke with Wingler they noticed a white powdery substance under her nose and she subsequently admitted that her and the two other occupants were snorting cocaine, police said.
Police charged Wingler, Jacob Edward Gallipault, 24, of 93 Boyle Rd. Gill, and Kristen Matthews, 24, of 56 Juniper Ct., Greenfield, with possession of a class "B" substance and conspiracy to violate a drug law, according to an arrest report.
Matthews was also charged with adult possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, the arrest report indicated.
All three suspects were released on a promise to appear in court.
