DEERFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

A body that was pulled from the Deerfield River on Tuesday has been identified as a missing Vermont woman who disappeared in the river on Sunday.

The Northwestern District Attorney's Office told CBS 3, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has positively identified the body as that of Molly Dowd, 24, of Brattleboro, VT.

Dowd went missing in the river while tubing with friends near TransCanada's Deerfield Hydro Plant Dam when she either was drawn into a vortex or fell off her tube.

He body was found Tuesday morning by a kayaker.

Authorities said the area where Dowd drowned is not common for tubing and is dangerous because of turbulent water.
