Six Flags New England offered free passes to all active and retired members of the military over the Independence Day weekend.
As part of the Coca-Cola Fourth Fest, Six Flags decided to honor members of the military by offering the passes, and allowed up to four friends or family to join them at the discounted price of $36 per person.
Despite the rain Friday, dozens of military members took advantage of the promotion.
Three sailors stationed at the Naval Submarine Base in Groton, CT, heard about the promotion last week and decided to take advantage of the free passes Friday.
The event included fireworks, which had to be canceled Friday night because of the weather. Communications manager for Six Flags, Jennifer McGrath said the fireworks would light the night sky on Saturday.
