GOLDSBORO, N.C. -

Authorities arrested and charged a Goldsboro man after four pit bulls attacked a woman June 25 outside Goldsboro.

Wayne County Animal Control arrested Terry Tremain Butler, 35, of Goldsboro, and charged him with one count animal causing a disturbance and one count animal running at large. The sheriff's office said Butler owned the dogs.

He is in the Wayne County Jail under $1,000 secured bond, police said.

Wayne County deputies said Mildred Game was attacked by four pit bulls June 25 in the Mar-Mac area outside of Goldsboro.

When members of the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and emergency services were dispatched to the location of the reported attack, two pit bulls charged a deputy as he exited his vehicle.

A spokesman for the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said Game's dog saved her life by trying to break-up the attack, but her dog had to be put down at the scene because of injuries it sustained in the fight.

Game suffered "extensive injuries," according to authorities. She is being treated at Vidant Hospital in Greenville.
