Springfield fire crews put out a fire on a train that passed through the city Wednesday morning.
A train car carrying recycled materials caught fire shortly before 6 a.m. on the tracks near the intersection of Bay Street and Roosevelt Avenue.
Fire officials said it was likely sparked by friction from a mechanical malfunction.
No injuries were reported and the train was towed to West Springfield where it was offloaded.
