A Raleigh man faces felony charges after a break-in in Garner, according to the Garner Police Department.
Garner police officers responded to a citizen's report of suspicious persons and a suspicious vehicle at Oakwater Dr. near Hall Blvd. on Tuesday 12:47 p.m., authorities said.
Garner K-9 Officer Sonny Roberson spotted the vehicle driving east on Timber Dr. toward Thompson Road.
After a short pursuit that ended when Thompson’s vehicle collided with a ditch embankment, Covington and another occupant ran from the vehicle. Roberson released Bear, his canine partner, who apprehended Covington after a short foot pursuit.
Covington received minor injuries and was treated on scene by Wake County EMS personnel. The other two passengers were detained by other officers on scene without further incident.
An investigation of a home on Oakwater Drive revealed that an unlawful entry had occurred and some electronic devices had been stolen. These items were discovered in Thompson’s car.
Covington, 21, was charged with felony breaking and entering a residence and several traffic related violations.
Miles Jamel Sanders, 25, of Smithfield and Melvin Eugene Ingram, 29, of Raleigh were also charged with felony breaking and entering a residence.
