SOUTHWICK, MA (WSHM) -

A two-month police and Drug Enforcement Administration investigation turned up more than 60 marijuana plants.

Police arrested 39-year-old Aaron Smiley Friday following a raid at his 49 Tannery Rd. home, according to Southwick Police Chief David Ricardi.

Authorities recovered 67 marijuana plants, $6,000 in cash and a handgun from inside the residence, Ricardi said.

The plants were worth approximately $60,000, but the street value of the marijuana once harvested, dried and cured would be close to $100,000, Ricardi said.

Smiley was charged with possession of a class D substance, possession of a firearm without a license, improper storage of a firearm and manufacturing a class D substance, he said.
