Springfield police arrested a convicted armed robber and alleged gun dealer after they found him with a rifle Thursday.
The Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Task Force learned through an investigation that 24-year-old Dashaun Scott, of 736 Belmont Ave., Springfield had sold a gun near Bowles Street on Wednesday, according to Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney.
On Thursday police located and arrested Scott at the corner of Orange and Oakland streets. Officers recovered a .22 caliber Marline 60W rifle with nine rounds of ammunition, Delaney said.
Scott was charged with illegal sale of a firearm, firearm violation with a prior felony conviction, possession of a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm and possession of ammunition, according to the arrest report.
Scott is a felon who was convicted of carrying a firearm in 2010 along with armed robbery. He was held on $100,000 bail pending his arraignment in Springfield District Court Friday, Delaney said.
