Cars stranded in Gulfstream parking lot after heavy rains

POOLER, GA (WTOC) -

Gulfstream Road was one of the hardest hit areas from Monday night's rain, with dozens of vehicles in the Gulfstream parking lot literally under water.

Gulfstream said they sent out notifications trying to warn people to move their vehicles because of the weather, but not everyone could get their vehicles out in time.

The company helped with towing cars after the flooding and said about 50 cars were damaged and they are working to cover some of the expenses and help provide assistance.

Tim's Towing waded through waist deep, filthy water in the parking lot, removing each car, truck and SUV submerged in the water.

Some vehicles were completely flooded.

"There is diesel fuel, paint thinners, ants float to the top, all kinds of things falling out of cars, and we are told there is a six foot gator floating around, so we have to watch out for eyes, too," Yarborough said.

Yarborough and his company worked throughout the night to remove the vehicles.
