SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Police arrested two men early Saturday morning after discovering cocaine and a loaded gun in their car.

Police said they pulled over Tomas Reyes, 26, of Springfield and Victor Velazquez, 35, of Springfield, after seeing their Honda Pilot in the middle of the street, blocking traffic in the area of Central and Main streets shortly after 1 a.m.

After running the plate number, police said the vehicle was unregistered and uninsured.

When they searched the car, police found the cocaine and a .38 caliber revolver.

Both men are facing firearm and drug charges.

Police say there are extra patrols all weekend in high crime and gang areas to help stop any possible gang activity.
