Cary Police issue 69 citations - 3 for texting - on crackdown

Posted: Updated:

The Cary Police made 89 stops and handed out 64 citations during a crackdown on texting and distracted driving Wednesday, but actually gave out only three citations for texting.

Lt. Steve Wilkins of the Cary Police said they wanted to get the word out about texting, and that was a big part of the push.

The police looked for people on Maynard Road and Cary Parkway from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Those who were cited got a $100 fine and face court costs of $190.
