Springfield police arrested a Ludlow man who tried to cash a fake check that was a photocopy of another check, and cut with scissors, according to Springfield police Sgt. John Delaney.
Officers responded to Orchard Variety, located at 152 Main St., in Indian Orchard, about 9:15 a.m. Sunday after the store owner notified police of the false document, Delaney said.
The officers approached the suspect, identified as 20-year-old Termayne Lloyd, of 16 Joy St., and could clearly see that the check was not even close to being authentic, Delaney said.
The check was for $110, according to police.
Police charged Lloyd with uttering a forged instrument. He was scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Springfield District Court, Delaney said.
