Western Massachusetts residents were invited to honor the American flag on Saturday.
The fifth annual Flag Day event was held on the south side of the two Great River bridges.
Not only were people welcome to display their flags, they were able to drop off old flags so they could be given an appropriate retirement ceremony.
State Sen. Don Humason started this event five years ago, saying it was needed at the time.
This was the first time the Flag Day event fell on a Saturday.
Humason said he was pleased with the turnout, given the options people have on the weekend.
