TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

University of Arizona Health Network, which includes two University of Arizona Medical Center campuses in Tucson, is talking with other networks about a possible partnership.

The university is not yet saying what that means.

UAHN issued a statement that it is in talks with Banner Health.

Banner operates 23 hospitals, including in Phoenix.

The entire statement reads:

"UAHN is in ongoing discussions with numerous health systems, including Banner, to explore opportunities for synergy and collaboration, particularly in areas where collaboration would enhance our missions of patient care, research and medical education."

According to the UAHN website, the network includes the UA Medical Center - University Campus, the UA Medical Center - Diamond Children's, the UA Medical Center - South Campus, about 40 clinics, a health plan division and the practice plan for physicians from the UA College of Medicine.

The University of Arizona Cancer Center does not fall under the UAHN umbrella.
