A Northfield man riding a scooter in the wrong lane early Wednesday morning was arrested for drunk driving and drug possession.
Officers noticed the scooter near the intersection of Pierce and Davis streets at about 2:30 a.m.
Upon speaking with the driver, the officer could smell alcohol on his breath. Further investigation revealed that the driver had a suspended driver's license, police said.
After the arrest was made, the officer found a bag of heroin in the driver's wallet, police said.
The operator of the scooter, 25-year-old Matthew Nartowicz, was charged with a DUI, driving with a suspended license, possession of heroin and failure to drive in the right lane, according to an arrest report.
He had a blood alcohol level of 0.10, police said.
