MEMPHIS, TN -
(WMC) - Two hospitals had to deal with emergencies of their own this week after they caught fire. Both were attributed to this week's storms.

Sunday morning, teams of workers from a disaster recovery company were seen cleaning and removing fire debris from Crittenden Regional Hospital in West Memphis. The facility has been closed since Friday when weather caused a fire.

Danny Denton rode by on his bike.  He says he cannot ever remember Crittenden Regional being closed.

"Not as long as I've been here; that's been over 20 years. Never," said Denton.

WMC Action News Five has learned that 14 patients from Crittenden Regional were transferred to Methodist Hospital in Memphis. A security guard at Crittenden Regional said that he is not sure of what day the hospital will reopen.

While the doors remain closed at Crittenden Regional, staffers in Memphis at Delta Medical, where fire broke out Thursday, say they are fully up and running again.

WMC Action News 5 cameras captured photos of the flames shooting out of a maintenance building at Delta Medical. By phone, spokeswoman Lynn Doyle said that the fire forced the hospital to close its emergency department temporarily.

"It was weather related. We had a transformer blow and we had some compromise to a gas line," said Doyle.

Doyle also says repair crews have been working through out the weekend, and they were able to reopen the emergency room late Saturday night. Since then, operations have been going smoothly.

"It is fully functional at this point. Power is restored phone lines are up and we are accepting people in the emergency department," added Doyle.

Staffers at both hospitals say the good news is no one got hurt.

Crittenden Regional will not be open Monday but hospital officials say their clinic's hospice and homecare will be operating as normal. Officials will be meeting Monday afternoon to discuss when the hospital may be able to reopen.
