SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

The arson and bomb squad is investigating a fire that happened at a home on Whiting Street a little before 6:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Dennis Leger, aide to Fire Commissioner Joseph Conant, told CBS 3 that the fire was confined to the building's basement and it was intentionally set.

There were no injuries from the fire, and Leger estimated the damage to be less than $5,000.

Leger said the two-family house was vacant on the first floor, while three tenants live on the second.

They were able to remain in the building.
