Former Gov. Michael Dukakis was in Western Massachusetts on Sunday, along with his wife, Kitty.
The two were in attendance for Sunday morning's Democrat of the Year breakfast, hosted by the Longmeadow Democratic Town Committee.
Dukakis was honored by the group for his years of service and commitment to the area.
Both the honoree and the committee chairperson were excited to see such a huge turnout at the Twin Hills Country Club.
"These are folks who were very important in my life, made it possible for me to be governor," said Dukakis. "It's great to be back, and it's an election year, and we've got things to do."
"I told him that he has a lot of friends here in Western Massachusetts," said Candy Glazer. "We're just so proud that the turnout reflects that we hold him in such great esteem."
Dukakis has come full circle with the committee.
He served as the keynote speaker for the group's first breakfast back in 1989.
