Springfield officials say 18 children were found in a condemned home on Marion Street.
It happened after the temporary relocation of a family from a home on Union Street.
City housing and code enforcement officials from Department of Children and Families inspected the Marion Street home to make sure it was clean and safe for the 12 children moving in.
The home failed that inspection.
Three kids were already living in there, and when officials came back to do a wellness check and make sure they were removed, they found just the opposite.
An additional 15 children were found in the condemned home.
City officials say the resident there had been running some sort of daycare.
DCF is investigating.
