A 20-year-old Greenfield man was taken into custody after police found multiple bags of heroin inside of his Vera Bradley purse.
An officer pulled over a vehicle on Chapman Street about 4 p.m. Wednesday after he noticed it had a revoked registration. Upon speaking to the driver, the officer noticed an open container of alcohol between the passenger seat and the center console, according to an arrest report.
That's when the officer noticed what appeared to be a heroin packet. The officer investigated further, and found that the passenger, identified as Codie Kratt, of 29 Spruce St., Greenfield, had a designer purse with several empty bags of heroin and eight bags containing the substance inside of it, police said.
There was a child that belonged to the driver inside the vehicle during the arrest. The Department of Children and Families (DCF) will be notified, police said.
Police charged Kratt with possession of a class A substance (heroin), according to an arrest report.
