Rescue teams recover hiker on Skinner Mountain who fell 100 feet

HADLEY, MA (WSHM) -

A hiker required a technical rescue on Skinner Mountain Thursday morning after she rolled off of a steep hiking trail nearly 100 feet and could not get back up, according to Hadley fire officials.

Five fire departments and the Massachusetts Technical Rescue team responded to Joseph Allen Skinner State Park about 8:30 a.m.

Teams used a rescue basket to recover the injured hiker from Halfway Trail. There is no word on the extent of the hiker's injuries yet.

State police and rescue teams from Chicopee, Amherst, Hadley, South Hadley, and Northampton responded.
