West Springfield honored their fallen veterans Monday with a parade and a special commemoration.
The parade began at 11 a.m. at Veterans Field and traveled roughly one mile to the West Springfield town commons.
Groups such as the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Boy Scout troops, and the West Springfield High School marching band all participated in the parade.
On display Monday was the sword and suitcase of Lt. William Ashley who was killed during the Civil War.
Ashley's relatives were also on hand to speak at the commemoration.
