Memorial Day activities happening in Tucson

East Lawn Palms Mortuary & Cemetery Memorial Day Service - Monday May 26 at 9 a.m.

East Lawn Mortuary & Cemetery (5801 E. Grant Rd., Tucson)

Services will include VFW Post 4903 performing the ceremony, Sons of Orpheus performing a musical selection, while Bulk Fuel Company Alpha and Piper Scott Ellis present colors.  There will also be a rifle salute, Taps by Skye van Duuren and a dove release.  Scheduled to speak will be retired Colonel Walter Scales, Executive Director of the 390th Memorial Museum. After the ceremony there will be a BBQ. 

 

Funeraria Del Angel South Lawn & South Lawn Cemetery Memorial Day Service - Monday May 26 at 9 a.m.

Funeraria del Angel South Lawn & South Lawn Cemetery (5401 S. Park Ave. Tucson)

Services will include a ceremony by VFW Post 549.  Taps will be performed by the Tucson Concert Band; colors presented by the Tucson Detachment 007 Marine Corps League and Piper William Don Carlos, followed by a rifle salute and dove release.  Scheduled to speak will be retired Lt. Colonel Richard Montgomery.  A BBQ will immediately follow the ceremony. 

Also on hand will be veterans resources, and the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 106, will have a memorial museum on display that will feature all local fallen heroes, both past and present.  This memorial will be open from May 24 through 26.

Memorial Day Ceremony in Tucson Estates

Memorial Day Ceremony 2014 - The American Legion Post 102 along with AMVETS Post 770 will be having their 41st Annual Memorial Day Ceremony at Tucson Estates on Monday, 26 May 2014, at 9 a.m. Tucson Estates is located 1.5 miles north of Ajo Way on S. Kinney Rd at Western Way, then turn right on Western Way into Tucson Estates. The street address is 5900 W. Western Way Circle, Tucson, AZ 85713. Free and open to the public.

 

Fort Huachuca Memorial Day ceremony - Sierra Vista, AZ

Ft. Huachuca personnel will America's veterans and salutes fallen service members during its annual Memorial Day ceremony 11:30 a.m., May 26 at the Post Cemetery.  The event is free and open to the public.

Maj. Gen. Robert Ashley, commanding general of the U.S. Army Intelligence Center of Excellence and Fort Huachuca, is the speaker for the event.

The Widowed Support Center, Gold Star Wives and the Society of Military Widows will dedicate wreaths to fallen service members.  A member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will read VFW General Order #1.  The 62nd Army Band provides music for the event and a rifle squad from the Fort Huachuca Select Honor Guard renders the 21-gun salute.  At noon, a firing battery from the Fort Huachuca Select Honor Guard will render the National Salute with five canons located on Reservoir Hill.

Join Arts Express as they honor the brave men and women from Southern Arizona who have served, as well as those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. This uplifting and inspirational Memorial Day tribute will recognize the military, first responders, public servants, and all those who have placed themselves before others.

The program will feature the Arts Express Choir and Brass with special soloists, conducted by Dr. David Ashcraft, Co-Artistic Director of Arts Express.

***Reserved Seating in the front third of the house is $20/person. General Seating is FREE with a suggested donation of $10/person.

 

Southern Arizona VA Health Care System Memorial Day ceremony - Friday May 30 at 10 a.m.  

Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (3601 S. 6th Ave. Tucson in the R.E. Lindsey Jr. Auditorium, Bldg. #4)

On hand will be several local dignitaries, as well as active duty military service members from across Arizona. Refreshments will follow the formal ceremony. Attendees are asked to enter using the 6th Ave. and Veterans Blvd. gate, with parking available in parking lot 'Q'.
