The Pioneer Valley Habitat for Humanity celebrated the start-up of construction on Sunday afternoon.
The house is the last of five homes being built by the organization on Garfield Avenue.
It will be home to Christopher and Katie Wolcott.
The home is being built on land donated by the city of Northampton, with volunteer labor and donated or discounted materials.
While the project is still underway, the future homeowner is overwhelmed with excitement.
"Overly excited, it's hard to believe that its happening to me," said Katie Wolcott. "We still have quite a bit to go, obviously, but we're going to try our best to it in as quick as possible and in time for us to be able to move in."
The organization is also preparing to begin two more projects in Easthampton and Amherst.
