AMHERST, MA (WSHM) -

It took until the very last round of the 2014 NFL Draft on Saturday, but University of Massachusetts tight end Rob Blanchflower was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Leominster native played in just six games last season while battling a bilateral sports hernia, but he still posted solid numbers.

Blanchflower is the third UMass player drafted in the last five years.

Last year, running back Michael Cox went to the New York Giants.

Like Blanchflower, he was also a seventh-round pick.

It is the first time since 1980 that UMass has had players selected in back-to-back years.
