Suspect charged after allegedly stealing police cruiser

By Lauren Squires -
In an exclusive video show to WMC Action News 5 reporter Lauren Squires, Hill was seen behaving in an odd manner while speaking with police.
MEMPHIS, TN -
(WMC) - While his fate remains unknown, the man accused of stealing a Memphis police cruiser has been charged and officers are releasing very few details about the incident.
WMC Action News 5 has exclusive video showing some of the moments leading up to Saturday's scary chase.
Family members say the man who might have stole the police car has not been the same since a recent return from Nebraska and that this is not the first incident they have had.
Terrell Jacobs says his cousin, Marcus Hill, returned to Memphis a few months ago after working in Nebraska. Saturday afternoon, Hill's behavior seemed unusual.
"It started when he was in the car with me. I was driving down the street and he was like 'cousin something is wrong with me, something is wrong with me. I don't know,'" said Jacobs.
Jacobs was on his way to pick up his daughter but decided to take Hill back home. That is when his family decided to call police.
A video given to the WMC Action News 5 team as police arrived shows Hill on the couch telling police "I don't know what's going on with me."
Jacobs says Hill had a similar incident of paranoia and panic a few weeks ago. When the ambulance arrived, Hill tried to run.
"Something took over him, like some demons. That's what he said, he was moving and he said 'I don't be trying to move,''" added Jacobs.
This time the phone call to police ended with an arrest after Hill stole a MPD cruiser and led police on an hour long chase.
Witnesses reported seeing the chase along Interstate 55 and Interstate 240 before it ended at Mississippi Boulevard and Trigg Avenue.
"When we came out the police was busting the window with his arm and they pulled him out and put him on the ground," said Tina Williams.
Police took Hill into custody and one officer was taken to Regional One in non-critical condition after breaking out the car window with his elbow.
"They were very professional in getting back their car," added Williams.
The MPD cruiser was towed and taken in as evidence. Hill's family says this incident is evidence that he needs help.
"I was kind of scared myself," noted Jacobs.
As of Sunday morning, Hill has been charged with intentionally evading arrest in an automobile, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, resisting official detention, theft of property and vandalism.
His bond is set at $30,000 and he is due in court on Monday, May 12.
