FLAGSTAFF, AZ (CBS5) -

Police and fire authorities in Flagstaff are teaming up to patrol and identify fire hazards in wooded areas within the city limits.

It's part of the 2014 Woods Watch Program.

Officers and firefighters will contact people living in those areas and educate them about fire hazards and dangers.

They'll also document the location of camps that need to be cleaned up at a later time.

A report released Tuesday warned extreme heat, drought and wildfire will only get worse.

The National Climate Assessment report also suggests additional warming, drought and insect outbreaks will increase fire danger, even across the lower deserts.
