SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

There was a natural gas leak at the corner of Chestnut and Carew streets after a work crew struck a natural gas line about 12:30 p.m., according to Springfield Fire Department officials.

Springfield firefighters were on scene shortly after the incident was reported, but the hazardous material leak also required the presence of the gas company.
