Holyoke PD 5K to benefit Holyoke Allies Baseball Club

HOLYOKE, MA (WSHM) -

On Saturday, members of the Holyoke Police Department and the public will be lacing up their running shoes and participating in the fourth annual Can You Outrun the Law 5K put on by the police department.

Each year, police officers choose a charitable organization for which to raise funds.

This year, it's the Holyoke Allies Baseball Club. Last summer, they brought together kids from the area to play in a tournament ,and the idea took off.

It teaches kids in Holyoke about sportsmanship and what it's like to be a part of a team.

"We started it last summer, and about 30 kids have come through. And we figure the sky's the limit with support from organizations like the police department and local sponsors we'd be able to do this and hopefully carry that name for a couple more generations," said Pat Consedinne of the Holyoke Allies.

The department hopes to raise $1,000 for the cause.

You can still register for Saturday's event at here.
