The French Heritage Center held a commemoration on Sunday of the 70th anniversary of the D-Day invasion in Normandy.
The event featured a personal account of the invasion from World War II vet Wilfred Delude, a presentation from Springfield Armory Superintendent James Woolsey and World War II era music.
One of Sunday's presenters, who was recognizing veterans from that era, said D-Day hits close to home for Western Massachusetts.
While the commemoration was held Sunday, the actual 70th anniversary of D-Day will be on June 6.
