SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Wednesday marks the first game of the 2014 American Hockey League Calder Cup playoffs for the Springfield Falcons.

The team will be in Providence, RI going up against the Providence Bruins. However, Falcons fans were out in full force in Springfield to support them.

The Falcons staff joined fans this Wednesday afternoon for a rally.

Those who attended were dressed in Falcons gear and lined Hall of Fame Avenue in Springfield waving signs and showing their support for the team.

This is the second consecutive time the team has made it to the playoffs and fans said they're ready for a great match up.

"I mean hey the Calder Cup is the biggest prize in the AHL, so yeah I'm pretty excited," said Donald Derosier, of Springfield.

Games two and three of the series will be held in Springfield at the MassMutual Center on Friday and Saturday.

For tickets to the game you can call the Falcons hotline at (413) 739-GOAL (4625).
