BAY VILLAGE, OH (WOIO) -

Gunfire hit a Bay Village home, narrowly missing a little girl and her pregnant mother.

The Kurinsky family moved from the big city of Baltimore to quiet, quaint Bay Village. Never, in a million years would they have believed a bullet would come do close to taking what's most important.

Jennifer Kurinsky, pregnant with her second child, was reading three-year-old daughter Ada a bedtime story when a bullet from the home next door ripped through the wall of Ada's closet. Ada and Jennifer were sitting just a few feet away at the time.

The bullet hole in his daughter's room still sends shivers down Kier Kurinsky's spine.

"It's my daughter's bedroom. While my pregnant wife was reading. It's doesn't happen, but it happens," Kurinsky said through tears.

Bay Village Police have Ada's little pink fluffy flower print clothes with shrapnel type holes in them as evidence.

"It's something you don't expect to go through living where we do. Choosing to move here," Kurinsky added.

The Kurinsky's peace of mind shattered long after the plaster will be patched up.

"Not only ours, the entire neighborhood. I would say there are easily 75 kids under the age of 10 on this street.  That could have gone in any direction."

Turns out the gun is military style assault weapon that the Kurinsky's have learned can fire 100 rounds per minute.

The 19-year-old who lives next door apologized for "accidentally firing the gun while cleaning it."

No charges have been filed yet for discharging a firearm within city limits.
