RALEIGH, N.C. - A correctional officer at Central Prison in Raleigh resigned Thursday after facing drug charges.

The North Carolina Department of Public Safety said Walter Kearney faces one count of bringing a controlled substance into a penal institution and one count conspiracy to sell or deliver a Schedule VI controlled substance.

Kearney is said to have brought marijuana to the prison, the DPS said.

No further information was released.
