Members of the Northwestern Anti-Crime Task Force arrested a man while they say he was delivering nearly 100 grams of heroin in Athol.
Police say 52-year-old Julio Morales had an estimated $65,000 worth of heroin.
Morales had recently been released after serving a prison sentence for a similar drug offense.
He is currently being held on a $100,000 bond and will be arraigned in Orange District Court on trafficking charges.
"We applaud this latest success of the Task Force," said Jeremy Bucci, Chief Trial Counsel for the Northwestern District Attorney's Office. "Its members continue to do all they can to identify and arrest those responsible for poisoning this community with this dangerous drug. This community cannot tolerate those who bring large quantities of heroin to our doorstep solely to line their own pockets."
