The Springfield Armor have officially announced their departure from the city.
The NBA Development League released a statement on the exit.
They said the team has been purchased by a new ownership group who is moving them to Grand Rapids, MI.
"We're excited to work with an outstanding ownership group, led by Steve Jbara, and the Detroit Pistons to bring the NBA D-League to Grand Rapids and greater Western Michigan," said Dan Reed, NBA D-League president.
The Armor started in Springfield back in 2009.
Their president, Alex Shwerin, thanked all those who welcomed his team to Springfield.
"I am extremely proud of everything the team was able to accomplish over the last five years. I have truly enjoyed working with all of you during my time here. Thank you to everyone who has helped and supported the Springfield Armor," said Shwerin.
