KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Since news spread that someone was shooting at cars on highways in the Kansas City area, drivers have been on edge.

And until a suspect is caught, drivers say they aren't taking any chances. Some are finding alternate routes, others say they aren't going to stop their regular routines.

"A little uneasy. It's unaimed, not targeted. You don't know who they are shooting at. It could be anybody," Ashley Quinn said.

Many of the multiple shootings have occurred near Three Trails Crossing, what was known for years as the Grandview Triangle.

Shots were fired as drivers were exiting or entering ramps onto the highways.

Some drivers say they are now taking different routes to avoid the highway.

"I'll go out Longview Road, or take a different route," Gaynell Thomas said.

Others, like Donna Sover, have been staying in at night.

Students who enter the busy highway merger take that route daily to Longview Community College. It is now a topic of discussion.

"They either don't want to come to school or take different routes to school," Kelsey Lohmeyer said.

For Marvin Ramirez, he has been mainly taking the back roads to get to school.

Still, others say their routines will not change.

"I just watch the roads, watch the ramps but as far as changing my route, no I'm not doing that," Connie Alicie said.

For Winetta Nevins, she will take the same route.

"...just believe I am protected by God," she said.
