Phil Sanchez meets Durham Academy's famous rapping principals

DURHAM, N.C. -

In TV news, sometimes, the story you set out to cover is not the story you end up with.

That's what happened in our latest "Phil Fills In."

Phil went to Durham Academy to fill in as a Principal but found a better story.

It turns out the head and assistant head of School are Internet sensations.

Their rendition of "Ice, Ice Baby" went viral over the winter.

"We heard within 24 hours from people in Australia, China, it was on the front page on the largest newspaper in Italy," said head of school Michael Ulku-Steiner.

The pair announced school was canceled in a rap video on YouTube.

"I just called up our assistant head and said, 'hey do you want to have some fun with this?'" he said.

"He's the head of school, you do what he says. The head of school comes and asks you for something, it's not even a question," said assistant head of school Lee Hark.

So with Lee wearing his bow tie and Michael sporting a pair of goggles, the video dropped.

"I have in my mind that i'm a better dancer than I am, I think," Hark said. "You know, one of the great things about working in a school is it sort of delays the aging process in a lot of ways."

As for a sequel?

They didn't say yes and they didn't say no.

So if there's another snowstorm next year, maybe we'll get to see their rapping skills again.
