William Gorman beat Pete Punderson in a race for a Select Board seat Tuesday night, with Gorman pulling down 1,005 votes compared to Punderson's 471.
Gorman has run unsuccessfully for a Select Board seat in the past.
Punderson is a former planning board member and Board of Selectmen member.
But his campaign has been shadowed by a series of money woes since the beginning of his race, and he had to file for chapter 7 bankruptcy.
Court documents also say dozens of creditors are coming after him for thousands of dollars.
East Longmeadow Town Clerk Tom Florence says the voter turnout was at 14.5 percent, down from 18.2 percent last year.
